The Abrazando Ilusiones Foundation is a non-profit organization with a clear mission and with the firm determination to improve the living conditions of highly vulnerable people and/or groups through:
Thus, the actions undertaken by the foundation fall within three cross-cutting areas.
The objective of this division is illustrative, rather than classifying, since the boundaries between the different contexts and areas of action can be blurred and, consequently, the actions undertaken tend to complement each other.
Our communicative ecosystem requires, every day, a greater degree of intercultural contact. Understanding, mutual acceptance, the discovery of the particularities of the other interacting party in a communicative process and the competence for interaction are, among others, some of the formulas for effective intercultural communication.
In order to strengthen skills in intercultural communication and build strategies to overcome situations of disagreement, we offer language courses, adapted to different contexts, to people in situations of high vulnerability.
Likewise, with the aim of providing solid intercultural competence and facilitating the dissemination of theoretical and empirical knowledge, we offer specialized courses in the fields of translation and language interpretation, adapted to various contexts and modalities, to university students (allowing to meet future translators and interpreters diverse realities and work contexts) and professionals who wish to enhance their skills and / or acquire new ones.
Additionally, and in order to raise awareness among the different actors in intercultural matters and sensitize the population that no one is completely alien to the processes inherent to human mobility, we organize multiple multicultural and intergenerational meetings for the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
A significant part of the actions undertaken seeks to contribute to ensuring that all people have the same opportunities to fully participate in the different dimensions of society and in decent living conditions. Thus, in order to compensate for the factors and deficiencies that characterize their situation, we develop courses, workshops and activities dedicated and adapted to highly vulnerable groups. These initiatives seek to provide their recipients with essential knowledge, skills and strategies for their development, and to familiarize them with fundamental cultural and relational keys in any socialization process. Currently, these initiatives are aimed at:
Being horizontality a characterizing feature of our philosophy and solidarity and participation, key dimensions for the Foundation, the objective pursued by this space is to serve as a point of reflection, exchange and cultural diffusion, and as a foundation for the development of transformative actions that revert to the benefit of society.
There are multiple activities held, in this sense, since the Foundation opened its doors to the community in 2018. Among them, there are multiple presentations (“Women in Islam. Patriarchy and Gender Perspective”, «Al-Baraka«, "Coexistence at Home: Roles, Conflicts and Guidelines for Overcoming", "Approach to Human Trafficking", "The Situation of Asylum in Spain", etc.), multicultural and intergenerational debates, group therapies, etc.
